Rakhma Updates

We currently have 4 isolation spots for residents, 2 in the basement at Harmony and 2 in the basement at Grace. We can isolate symptomatic residents immediately, as a memory care provider it is almost impossible to isolate individuals within our homes, so we would move any symptomatic resident to our designated isolation areas until we received a negative test result.

We do not currently have any symptomatic residents, but we have had 3 symptomatic staff that were pulled from the floor immediately and given COVID tests which came back negative. Staff continue to have temperature screenings prior to the start of their shift, required to wear a mask, practice frequent hand hygiene, and report any symptoms to our RN daily. Although tests are not abundant, we have not had any issue getting the nasopharyngeal swabs, and both RN's have 5 on hand to issue a test as needed. Test results have been prioritized for front line workers and residents of long-term care facilities and are available within 48-72 hours of administering the test.

All residents have their vitals recorded daily, including oximeter reading, pulse, blood pressure, and temperature screenings so we can proactively monitor for any change and recognize presenting symptoms. If we do end up with a positive test result, we are required to report to MDH immediately and collaborate on the best course of action based on our capacity to cohort any affected resident, number of staffing resources, and vulnerability of other residents. This includes transferring residents to other dedicated COVID cohorting facilities if Rakhma does not have the capacity to isolate that individual at that time.

We are paying staff $20/hr hazard pay to work with any symptomatic resident in isolation areas, including residents who are new admissions who are not symptomatic but awaiting their second test results. So far staffing resources are available and Rakhma uses several temp agencies in the event that our staffing resources become depleted.
