Modified Move-In Process

We are closely following the guidance provided by the MN Department of Health and LeadingAge MN in regards to the best practices to keep our residents safe and healthy during this pandemic. We are being extra cautious in regards to moving in new residents or transferring current residents, and would like to share our modified move-in process with you.

 New residents

1)      Before a new resident can move into a Rakhma Home, they must have a COVID test done within days of their move, and the result must be negative.

2)      The day that the new resident moves into a Rakhma Home, another COVID test will be done and that person will move into a quarantine area; there will be no shared space for that new resident and the current residents.

·         We have two quarantine areas: one in the basement at Harmony Home (Golden Valley) and one in the basement at Grace Home (Minnetonka). The staff who work in the quarantine areas will use a separate entrance from everyone else in the home. As a further measure towards preventing cross contamination, the two or three employees who will work with the quarantined resident will not work with our other residents until we have a confirmed negative COVID test.

·         If a resident moves in who will live at the Joy Home or the Peace Home, that person will quarantine at Grace or Harmony and then move to their new home after the quarantine period is complete and they have a negative test result.

3)      Once we receive a second negative COVID result, the resident will then be moved into his/her regular room. If the person’s test comes back negative, s/he will stay in the quarantine area until s/he has a negative test result and a physician has confirmed the person is not contagious.

Transferring residents from one Rakhma home to another

We do not have any confirmed or even suspected cases of COVID in any of our homes, so transferring residents from one home to another does not pose a threat. However, as any extra safety measure, we are having Rakhma residents obtain a COVID test and negative result before we transfer them from one home to another.
